India20092.jpg Traveling to a sacred site with the intention of learning what is in our hearts, integrating that through the mind and feeling it in our bodies, is what is behind a power journey exploration.  These unforgettable pilgrimages take each individual deep into the center of their being, to transform limiting thoughts and behaviors and encourage true integrity and joy to blossom.  Taking responsibility for our own happiness leads to unconditional love, creativity and deep inner stillness.

Tamil Nadu, India’s Spiritual Heartland, has a singular culture embodied in its dance, art, and literature stretching back thousands of years.  Vast stone temples still vibrant with worship dwarf the cathedrals of Europe.  Its stretches of beach have lured travelers, merchants and even apostles. Its mountains are alive with the ancient gods.  Many of India’s greatest Gurus of the 20th century were either born in Tamil Nadu, like Ramana Maharshi, and J. Krishnamurti or were drawn by the region’s spiritual magnetism.

Our Journey begins in Chennai, a teeming port that along with its classical dance and music is the home of the Theosophical Society, the Krishnamurti Foundation, and the resting place of St. Thomas.  Here will visit the city’s Shiva temple and its classical dance school and begin to taste a living tradition.

Our next stop is Mamallapuram, a small town wedged between endless beach and rock cliffs.  Once a port of a thriving empire, Mamallapuram is the site of stone carvings, cave temples, and gargantuan sculptures magnificently poised at the ocean’s edge.  We will stay at a beachside resort which will allow us access to the town’s restaurants, shops, Ayruvedic, and yoga studios via a walk on the shore.  Against the background sounds of the still practiced stone carving, we will deepen our work using the town’s power infused rock and numerous health practioners and spiritual healers.

Our journey then turns inland to the Hill of Shiva, Arunachala, and the ancient town of Tiruvannamalai. Looming over the town and peppered with caves this hill of Shiva’s in His fire form has been a place of practice and hermitage for countless yogis - among them is the Indian Saint Ramana Maharshi.  At the base of Arunachala is one of India’s largest temples and the ashrams of both Ramana Maharshi and Sri Seshadri.  To this day Arunachala is venerated a place of power and circumambulated on the full moon.  The mountain, its caves, the ashrams and temples below are the setting for confronting our separateness and penetrating the ultimate question “Who am I?”
